How is the information in LINK kept secure?
Privacy, Confidentiality and security are priorities for LINK. The registry software has been
designed to protect patients' rights to privacy, to provide data security and to allow providers to meet their
obligations to protect patient confidentiality. The software and LINK policies and procedures are in compliance with
the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) as well as other state and federal laws.
LINK has established policies to further ensure the privacy and security of client information.

Privacy:
- All participating agencies and individual users must sign confidentiality agreements.
- All users receive training related to protecting the confidentiality of LINK data.
- Unique passwords are required to access data in LINK.
- Security:
- The LINK software has been designed, and is updated regularly, to meet industry standards to protect client information from being shared with unauthorized sources.
- LINK adheres to strict security standards established by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services.
- Authorized users access LINK through a secure Internet connection, and servers are secured by multiple firewalls.
