Is there a fee to use CAIR?
No. CAIR is free to all approved providers and agencies. To participate, all you need is a PC, printer, and high-speed Internet access. CAIR Los Angeles-Orange Region staff will guide you through the planning process, train your staff, and provide ongoing support.

Who is allowed to use CAIR?
California law (Health and Safety Code Section 120440) sets the rules for what types of agencies can use CAIR. To date, only the following agencies may have access to CAIR:
  1. Health care providers who give immunizations. This includes health department-based clinics, non-profit/community clinics, private medical practices, and hospitals.
  2. School and Daycare facilities
  3. Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program 
  4. County and State Foster Care offices
  5. California Work Opportunities and Responsibilities to Kids (CalWORKs) Program 
  6. State and Local Health Departments
  7. Health Plans
What can CAIR be used for?
California law also sets the rules for what CAIR can be used for. Information can be entered and retrieved from CAIR only to:
  • Determine what immunizations are needed (e.g., health care providers).
  • Conduct assessment and referral for immunizations (e.g., WIC programs, foster care agencies).
  • Determine school/program entry eligibility (e.g., schools, daycare facilities, CalWORKs).
  • Facilitate third-party payments for services (e.g., health plans).
  • Determine community-wide coverage levels and assess service delivery (e.g., local and state health departments).
NOTE: Only health care providers and the health department can see the address and telephone portion of a patient's record in CAIR.

What support is provided by CAIR to help me get started?
CAIR Los Angeles-Orange Region staff will provide training and support to you and your staff before you begin using CAIR. This support includes:
  • An operational assessment to help determine how best to implement CAIR in your facility to meet your needs and fit in with your office workflow.
  • A technical assessment to determine if your computers meet CAIR software requirements.
  • Training for you and your staff, tailored to your intended use of CAIR.
  • A staff member at your facility on the day you begin using CAIR to provide guidance and support.

Is ongoing support is available once I start using CAIR?
Yes. The CAIR Los Angeles-Orange Region Help Desk is available Monday through Friday from 7:00AM- 5:00PM to answer any questions you may have via: Phone: (213) 351-7411

Additional training and support is also available for free for all CAIR participants. CAIR staff will also provide you with feedback on how well your staff is using the software and give you opportunities to provide feedback to us on the quality of our services and support.
